"Bad times have a scientific value.
These are occasions a good learner would not miss."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
I hear a lot of people say these are bad times, and I'm certain that same sentiment is expressed in the media regularly. The real truth is that this is just a perspective, an opinion that may or may not be shared universally. Indeed, I don't think these are bad times, but great times.
I don't mean to intimate that there are not certain financial challenges in today's business environment, but to call them bad evokes a certain attitude toward those challenges that cannot in any way shape or form improve them. The best someone with this attitude can get is to wait long enough for things to change, then perhaps it is possible they might then call those times good.
Regarding challenges to business, I love how Henry Ford says it: "Business is never so healthy as when, like a chicken, it must do a certain amount of scratching around for what it gets." He should know, living through the toughest of financial challenges many times successfully.
In addition, there are thousands of businesses that are growing every year for the last several years including our own. In spite of challenges, people can find a way when they want to.

Spread Some Joy Today--Do a random act of kindness today. Pass up the close-in parking place and let the person behind you have it, be exceptionally generous to a beggar, stop and offer to help someone. These are just a few ways. . . It's big fun!
