Everyone has an opinion, and maybe sometimes that
opinion might be negatively directed toward us. Or, maybe it is from us directed
toward another. . .
What is interesting about human beings is that we
have the ability to choose to not accept evaluations of others and insert our
own instead. It is an incredibly healthy thing when we are in charge of its
use.
Becoming upset and disagreeing with the opinion of
another is an egoic response by activating the defense mechanism that is
supposed to protect us, but it doesn't do that. Instead, it adds fuel to the
fire so to speak, when quelling the fire immediately by choosing another thought
is a far better action. The only issue with this is that it does require
conscious choice and action on our part.
All the healthy things require conscious choice and
action on our part, don't you agree?
