". . . any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available."
- Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich
A famous criminologist once stated, "When men first come into contact with crime, they abhor it. If they remain in contact with crime for a time, they become accustomed to it and endure it. If they remain in contact with it long enough, they finally embrace it, and become influenced by it."
It could be a crime, or just unhappiness, depression, consistent negativity (seeing what is wrong everywhere). Many "become accustomed to it, and endure it," as it is "reality." It's time to realize that one person's reality is not another's. There are people who ignore all of that negative information and call the place without it, "reality."
Can you constantly be reading the paper, listening to talk radio on the way to work, catching up with news of the day on the Internet while at work, news-talk radio on the way home, then TV news programs before bed, and have an upbeat positive attitude? You might as well look in the mirror every 5 minutes and say aloud to the person in the mirror how ugly they are, then go to work on feeling good.
Remember the quote: ". . . any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available." That's a really fancy way to say "Garbage in, garbage out."
Taking control of your own input is critical. Find ways every day to feed yourself good, enlightening information and plenty of positive, uplifting praise. Look around you. The vast majority of people are receiving and absorbing so much negative information. The only reason is they choose to allow their thoughts to come by default instead of on purpose. It is as simple as that, really. When you choose, you win!
So, what will you choose to think today? How will that make you feel? Good. Let's get started!
