Daily Inspiration 9-19-10

Anthony Robbins Week

"Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true
it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish
in a year, and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade!"

"In essence, if we want to direct our lives,
we must take control of our consistent actions.
It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives,
but what we do consistently."

-- Anthony Robbins

The Tortoise and the Hair is a story of consistent action, consistent and patient effort and success despite the odds. It's the effective habit, or consistent application that makes the difference, doing so much each day, but making sure that each day is done.

I've taught in sales prospecting, to start with a small number. Setting a goal to make 50 calls is silliness and 99.9% would take a hike. But change the goal to 5 and we might even see superior results. Once the small goal is established and consistently maintained, if there is capacity remaining, add to that, but starting big is like the hair and sticking with a smaller number is like the tortoise.

The same thing applies in learning. I want to read two books a week. That's too many for some, but two a month would be no big deal and at the end of a year, that would be probably 24 more books than they might have otherwise read.

First make it doable consistently, then consider more. Just like Tony says above, "most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year, and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade."

This applies in our website marketing business, Upward Trend.org. People want a fast fix to get to the top of the search engines, but it is the consistent application of content and "signs" that will make the best difference. What good would it do to get found and then when they find you there is nothing to see? After six months of consistent application, it is flat amazing what you can do on the Internet to move the needle. Give it two years and you own it.

Whatever we want to achieve, applying consistent thought, focus, or effort will make all the difference. Tortoise and Hair.

Getting There Is Pretty Much Assured With Consistent Focus.

Spread Some Joy Today--Think of things that you have been applying occassional focus to that if you changed that may make a huge difference.
