"If people refuse to look at you in a new light
and they can only see you for what you were,
only see you for the mistakes you've made,
if they don't realize that you are not your mistakes,
then they have to go."
-- Steve Maraboli
Sometimes people (it is so often relatives. . .) cannot see beyond your past. They see the mistakes, maybe even bring them up again and again. That is not you. Those were simply choices in time and that time has passed. The only thing worth looking at is the here and now.
If you've let go of all past baggage, then those around you need to let go as well, or they have to go. We cannot keep moving forward by having people hanging on to our past actions any more than we can do that ourselves. It's okay to move on.
It's okay to disassociate with some. It is a healing sometimes. Focus on where you are now and where you are headed now and that is all that is important.
The Rest Is History.
Spread Some Joy Today--Cut yourself some slack. In fact, cut yourself a huge swath of slack. You are awesome just the way you are! Rock on!
