Daily Inspiration 7-25-11

"We must accept life for what it actually is--a challenge
to our quality without which we should never know
of what stuff we are made, or grow to our full stature."

-- I.A.R. Wylie

I've always believed that we are either growing or dying and I've believed that businesses are the same--either they are growing or they are dying. Some are fairly obvious to me, and some it is hard to tell, but one thing is sure: nothing remains the same.

Of course many people, including some bosses I've had believe that growth is always related to number of sales, dollar value of sales and such. Those are absolutely important, but not so important as to overshadow all other forms of growth.

Relate to a tree, where pruning is growth. It is in the pruning that new growth is possible where it would be stagnated before. Replanting can be growth as well. New, more fertile soil, fresh perspectives. Reorganization can be very helpful. Education as well. Renewing or changing focus can be helpful to growth. Changing or realigning products and services can be a huge benefit. Preparation can be another help.

In any case, there are so many ways we can grow and become more than we were, and in this I see no difference between business and our personal lives.
