"Life has got a habit of not standing hitched. You got to ride it like you find it. You got to change with it. If a day goes by that don't change some of your old notions for new ones, that is just about like trying to milk a dead cow."
-- Woodie Guthrie
"Everything flows, nothing stands still."
"Nothing endures but change."
-- Heraclitus 535 BC-475 BC
We do love our routines. It gives us a bit of comfort that we can control things and count on things being a certain way. Of course, we all really know, without perhaps wanting to admit it, that nothing stays the same very long and that change is one, if not the only thing that we can truly count on.
I really like the way Woodie Guthrie says it: "You got to ride it like you find it. You got to change with it." In a larger sense we are even sculptors in the changes we see, though many of us do it unwittingly. My goal is to be alive and conscious in being a sculptor, and learn to sculpt pleasing scenes. Since nothing stands still, that gives me such a beautiful, scenic ride--a panoramic view--as I sculpt and at the same time drink the show.
What a ride! So much more so now that I decided to stop milking the dead cow.
I Am In Awe Of All I See And Experience Around Me.
Spread Some Joy Today--We look around at all we have made as humans, yet to look outside and realize that something as simple and common as a blade of grass or a leaf is not in our realm but to partake it as an experience. What wonder all around.
