"Whether it's praise, love,
criticism, money, time, space,
power, punishment, sorrow, laughter,
care, pain, or pleasure. . .
the more you give,
the more you will receive."
-- Mike Dooley,
a.k.a. The Universe
You've heard the phrase, 'it is better to give than receive,' right? But, I think a better way to say this is as Mike Dooley has done: "the more you give, the more you will receive." Receiving is tied to giving, although we may not always see it that way, and yet they are inseparable.
So. . . I think it is a very healthy thing to pay attention not to what we are getting, or even wanting, but what we are giving. What are we saying in our head as we are driving down the road, in the middle of our day at work, as we walk in the door at home? What are we giving out? How are we giving? Are we giving love, compassion, laughter, joy, understanding, loving touch, uplifting words, or are we giving complaint, sorrow, punishment, criticism, insincerity, halfhearted efforts, unkind and thoughtless comments?
Whatever we give, we are assured more of the same coming to us. If not from those in front of us, certainly it comes around. The Law of Attraction is unerringly efficient in this way, and it doesn't recognize good from bad, but only brings more of what we put out, which is a direct reflection of what we think inside.
Even if we aren't listening to ourselves, we cannot miss how we are feeling, and all we need do is pay attention to how we are feeling, and we will know what we are giving. If we are feeling bad, we are giving out ill, and as we are feeling good, we are giving things and thoughts that feel good. Paying attention to how we feel is among the most important things we could do. It is our internal guidance, and as we recognize this feeling place, we are guided toward feeling better.
I'll bring in Abraham, Esther Hicks to finish this off with this:
"Make up your mind that nothing is more important than how I feel now, because now is everything. Now is the whole enchilada. Now is the power of me. Now, now, now, now, now. . . You might as well start somewhere, and it might as well be now. Why not start improving your life now, now, now?"
Giving Cannot Be Without Receiving.
