Daily Inspiration 12-13-14

"If you would perfect your body,
guard your mind.

If you would renew your body,
beautify the mind.

Thoughts of malice, envy,
and disappointment, despondency,
rob the body of its health and grace.

A sour face does not come by chance;
it is made by sour thoughts."

-- James Allen,
As A Man Thinketh

Know any devil's advocates? Who wants them? Naysayers, complainers, gossipers? What good do they do? People who are always having things "happen to them" with no fault of their own? Victims. Persecutors. Rescuers. Around and around they go and what good they do, no one knows.

Know someone who sees everything that is wrong and almost nothing that is right? Like a newscast, only in person? Should, should, should. Worry, worry, worry. What good is it?

See any sour faces as you travel your day? "A sour face does not come by chance; it is made by sour thoughts." Forget about them and all their petty little (monumental, catastrophic) problems. Ask yourself, do I want to be like them? Of course not! Not when you can see the cause and effect so clearly. And, you know that there is a cause for every effect and an effect for every cause.

"There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body; there is no comforter to compare with goodwill for dispersing the shadows of grief and sorrow."

Ever walk around smiling most of the day just because you feel great today? Ever had anything really good and special happen that just filled your mind and heart with love and gratitude?

Remember those thoughts and create some more! Do it daily. Your smiling face depends on it. Look for something right and praise it. Learn to be thankful regularly. Here's a real treat: find a sour face and tell them something you like about them. Give them some praise. I tell you this--they will respond to that as if they were dying of thirst in the desert and you just gave them a drink from your canteen. Do it often and you will find a new friend. Such a simple thing and oh so rewarding! It is life changing for both of you.
