Daily Inspiration 9-2-11

Growth Week

"All the evidence that we have indicates that it is
reasonable to assume in practically every human being,
and certainly in almost every newborn baby,
that there is an active will toward health,
an impulse towards growth, or towards the actualization."

-- Abraham Maslow

"If we're growing, we're always
going to be out of our comfort zone."

-- John C Maxwell

I'm not just a satisfied customer of Netflix, but a raving fan! What I love the most about Netflix is what they do to help me find great movies I've never heard of and never would have tried. And the good news about that is that I find some serious gems. I found another delightful gem this evening in a French movie titled, Queen To Play with Kevin Kline and Sandrine Bonnaire, and this movie played right into my Daily Inspiration too. How cool is that?

This movie is all about growth and taking risks toward that end. It shows the reality of how little people will encourage you much of the time and you have to risk and step out and try and do. It's about finding one or two who will support and encourage you and making the best of that. It is about risking people being unhappy with your decisions, and doing it anyway because you have to. It also shows what I've found myself in that when you expand to a new area, you cannot unexpand. Going back will never do, and trying to please others is not the best strategy anyway. It's about having a gift you might not have known you had, but one day it sort of makes itself known and you explore it with curiosity and courage. Then you excel and all your friends want to be friends again, but maybe you didn't miss them so much. . .

Growth sometimes requires a willingness to go it alone--at least for a while, to check it out, feel it out, experience the change and adapt according to how your desire and feelings encourage you to do. Actually, this is a good thing, because too many cooks spoil the sauce so to speak. By going it alone for a while, you are able to make decisions that serve your needs and in as timely a manner as possible.

You might even find that it isn't working out to your satisfaction, but that's okay too because you've grown in the experience anyway. Practice is good. Staying in our comfort zone will insure no growth.

"Life Is Growth. If We Stop Growing, Technically And Spiritually, We Are As Good As Dead." -- Morihei Ueshiba

Spread Some Joy Today--Pay attention to your own interests and desires to be willing to change and grow, and at the same time pay attention to how you might be inadvertently discouraging someone else.
