"Every morning
we are born again.
we are born again.
What we do today
is what matters most."
-- Gautama Buddha
[Classic post from 9-21-16]
It doesn't matter how many times we've tried and failed to achieve an objective. It just doesn't matter. All that matters is right now, this moment, this minute, this hour, this day, today. We could have tried and failed thousands of times as I did when I was 'shoulding' my self to quit smoking, and then the next day after all those failures, I focused on that next moment, made a firm commitment and let go of cigarettes. It will be 15 years in April. Thank goodness for the new day and the new opportunity that it always affords.
What do you want to do today? What new thoughts do you want to adopt today? What do you want to let go of today? What new loves would you like to feel and explore? What new joys would you like to add? What act of kindness would you like to act on today? What's new for you today? What would you like to be new for you today?
Here's the perfect place to begin: Find something, anything to be thankful for. Buddha said it nicely this way: "Let us rise up and be thankful, for it we didn't learn a lot at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die, so, let us all be thankful."
Being thankful begins every day with the best frame of mind. It opens up new opportunities we didn't see before. It uncovers the bountiful love that we often cover with cares and worries. It lights the way toward that which we want, leaving in the darkness that which we may have been holding on to seeking a security that didn't really exist.
Celebrate your brand new day today. Celebrate the weather. Celebrate all that you are and all that you have done, so-called failures and all. There really is no such thing as failure, you know. It's all one step in front of another, even if sometimes we run and hide. Today is a brand new day. Let's make it a joyous one! Let's do the happy dance!
Being Thankful Is The Best Beginning Of Every New Beginning!
Spread Some Joy Today--in your fresh new day!
